Phase two is complete and Cougar Stadium is open for business. The 5.5 million dollar complex was finished earlier this spring and is home to the school's football and soccer programs. The new turf field was installed for the beginning of the 2011 fall sports season and features a state of the art scoreboard with a full color video board and digital play clocks. "Charleroi can now say we have one of the premiere sports facilities in Western Pennsylvania." says Ed Jenkins, who is entering his first season as the schools head football coach.
The second phase consists of a multi purpose building that includes football and soccer locker rooms and an auxiliary basketball gym used for middle school basketball games and varsity practices. The facility also houses a new weight room and its main attraction, a luxury entertainment suite known as the Alumni Room that can accomodate approximately 80 people and boasts a glass window wall overlooking the football stadium. The suit also has a walkout terrace where fans can enjoy a unique view of the action on game day. The Alumni Room is availble to rent for your next business luncheon or private event by contacting the athletic office.
The sports complex is also home to the Charleroi Midget Football League and has played host to community events such as Relay For Life. The six lane track is open to the public during non-sporting event hours. More events are planned for the 2012-13 school year.
